weLaika is the first web agency from Turin to have chosen Ruby on Rails as its main work tool. Since 2010 we have participated in several projects with Ruby on Rails as their backbone: we are devoted participants in Rails Rumble, wherein we created an innovative project every time in a 48-hour marathon, either being featured (such as on lifehacker) or winning competitions.
Rails has allowed us to work on many ERPs and applications. We are also active on GitHub, where we have published a series of open-source projects conceived for Ruby and Rails.
We participate in the Italian Ruby community by organizing Ruby Day 2015 and 2016 with AssoRuby association and other two italian agencies. Sponsor of Ruby Day since 2019.
Ruby on Rails is an open-source web development platform, written in Ruby. It was created in 2005 and since then it accumulated an impressive global pull.
Rails is a full-stack platform based on the Model-View-Controller pattern and provides the tools to build modern and performing web applications: it includes a set of methodologies and patterns that is recognised as the optimum standards for web development, and that led us to select it as the king instrument for the back-end parts of our integrated solutions.
Ruby on Rails has introduced concepts and methodologies providing very recognisable architectures, that allow to take over a project written in Rails in a very short time, which entails both direct advantages in terms of costs and development time, and no developer lock-in.
This strongly convention-driven approach is an excellent precondition for the between different development teams.
The Rails ecosystem is very lively, and thanks to modular approach it is possible to build a complete platform in a very short time. This quickness well matches the need to create prototypes to be rapidly tested during agile development.
The development and expansion speed of a product created with Ruby on Rails shall be backed by the prospect of monitoring regression, that is, when a new feature interferes with an old one.
Thanks to Test Driven Development - made way easier by this approach - it can be verified that during the writing of new code all the features of the application continue to behave correctly.
The Ruby on Rails framework is completely open-source: this characteristic allows to modularly grow software, no legal lock-in and no platform restriction along the years.
The experience we gained along the years allows us to suggest the best solutions starting from your needs. We are used to searching for the minimal solution, that is, the one that fulfils the requirements in the simplest and most inexpensive way. Our method is sound and effective.
